The mission of ASHRM is to promote the HR profession in the region through educational and certification programs in addition to other activities such as the ASHRM International Conference, monthly programs, and various publications and studies.
In pursuit of this mission, ASHRM developed partnerships for excellence with top educational institutions which offer the best HR programs in the US. The first partnership was with the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis- St. Paul. This started in October 1999 and ended in December 2007.
ASHRM developed the second partnership for excellence with Texas A&M University (TAMU) with the objective of offering the following HR programs on site in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia:
The purpose of these partnerships is to provide participants with learning experiences, concepts, skills, and procedures that will help them in developing and leveraging expertise for improving human performance in the workplace – at the individual, team, organization, national, and international levels.
ASHRM offers the following HR education programs through Texas A&M University:
Classes are held at The Leadership Center in Saudi Aramco main camp in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Each 3-credits course requires two consecutive weekends, four days at nine hours per day for a total of 36 class hours. The class schedule normally runs from 0800 hours to 1800 hours with coffee, lunch, and prayer breaks. On Fridays, the participants are given a longer lunch break to accommodate the Friday prayer.
Approximately six weeks prior to the beginning of each class, the course syllabus and reading materials are distributed to the participants who are required to read through the materials and complete specific pre-class assignments. Participants must complete their registration formalities including payment of tuition (including textbook costs) prior to receiving their textbooks. After the professor arrives in Dhahran and works with the participants for the course duration, the participants are normally given approximately four weeks to complete a post-course project or research paper.

ASHRM recognizes that students may encounter compelling conditions to make them withdraw from a course after they have registered and paid their full tuition. On the other hand, ASHRM would like to ensure that students do not exercise this option except for truly compelling conditions. The intent of the following policy is to safeguard all students’ interests and at the same time avoid creating conditions that could jeopardize the continuity of the HRD and HRM programs and the education opportunities for students who want to pursue their professional development.
In case of withdrawal from a course after tuition has been paid, ASHRM will make the following deductions from the student payment and refund the remainder:
